Pope Benedict XVI has repeatedly apologized for quoting a Byzantine emperor who claimed that Mohammad brought, “only evil and inhuman” things to the world. The Pope asserts that when he quoted Manuel II Palaeologus, it was to further implore discussion between the faiths in a respectful way. The angry reaction morphed from protest to violence over the weekend with churches being torched in Gaza and a nun being shot in Somalia. I think SOME in the Muslim community need to be given a candid message regardless of how politically incorrect it may seem - “Grow up!”

Your clerical leaders are forever masturbating venomous speech against Jews and Christians on radio and television throughout the Middle East without those Jews and Christians setting mosques on fire or shooting your religious figures. You cannot consistently give a pass to your own for that which you’ll not tolerate from others despite your own doing it far more often. No one can ever take seriously those who belong to the “do as I say, not as I do crowd.”

The "street of sensitivity" runs both ways - unless you're a disingenuous traveler. What do you think?

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be arriving in New York on the 18th of September and will address the United Nations on the 19th. If he were taken out by a sniper’s shot, would it mean anything? No. Why? Because accept for the joy of no longer having to listen to his unbalanced rantings in favor of the destruction of Israel, he has no power beyond what the non-elected clerics bestow upon him. He’s truly a simple puppet albeit a loud one. His visit means nothing – or does it? What are your thoughts?

Most UN Security Counsel members are now saying that Israel only has the right to defend itself up to the point where it doesn't harm the fellow citizens of its enemy - even though the enemy attacks from behind those same citizens.

In short, Israel must subordinate the security of its own citizens to those of its enemies whenever the two are in moral conflict. By consequence of this formula, the UN is essentially mandating that Israel not be allowed to defend itself while rhetorically saying it can. What do you think?

For the last two weeks, we’ve been hearing much from Russia, the European Union and UN Secretary General Kafi Annan about Israel’s disproportionate use of force in response to the act of war leveled against them by the Hezbollah wing of the Lebanese government.

The question is this: When did “proportionality” become the gauge for appropriateness when launching a counter-attack against those who first attacked you. Isn’t the more legitimate gauge of appropriateness the response that best ensures the enemy’s inability to replicate those attacks in the future? Would the citizens of any other country not demand the same standard?

Are those advocating responses of similar force to the enemy (i.e., proportionate force) unwittingly extending the conflict instead of ending it? Where do you stand?

The Senate recently voted 63-34 to make English our official language. According to the Washington Post, immigrants-rights groups like the National Council of La Raza are horrified. Their Legislative Director Raul Gonzalez says, “This is devastating.” He added, “For us, this is a tough issue to bring back to the community.”

Question: If their homeland of Mexico is allowed to have Spanish as an official language without condemnation, why can’t the homeland they wish to adopt be granted that same latitude? Canada has English and French; Finland has Finnish; Belgium has French, Dutch and German; Niger has French; Greece has Greek; Honduras has Spanish; Morocco has Arabic (but they permit French for business); Netherlands has Dutch; and Malawi has English and Chicewa.

Most countries around the globe have official languages and are never subjected to ridicule because of it. Why are we continuously required to demonstrate a double-standard tolerance for the intolerance of others against us?
